Egyptian Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Ahmed Nazif, recently received at the Ministry's head offices Microsoft President, Europe, Middle East and Africa, Jean-Philippe Courtois where they discussed the latest achievements in the implementation of the e-government project and discussed future cooperation schemes.

Cooperation with Microsoft supports many projects of direct benefit to the people of Egypt. The creation of an e-government gateway with a service-oriented purpose is a sample of such cooperation, according to Nazif.

The initial launch of the gateway will feature a number of services such as the enquiry and settlement of the phone bill, enquiry and settlement of traffic violations in Alexandria, and enquiry and settlement of electricity bills of large corporations served by the Delta Electricity Distribution Company.

Microsoft asserts that it is looking towards the realization of more successful partnerships through implementing latest technologies in a number of service oriented projects. “Microsoft has great interest in the markets of the region, placing special emphasis on Egypt. A true example of this interest is the Arabization of its products,” said Courtois. — (menareport.com)
