Mike Lynch 'British Bill Gates' goes missing after superyacht sinks near Sicily

ALBAWABA – Mike Lynch, the 59-year-old British-Irish technology entrepreneur, known as the co-founder of Autonomy Corporation, the founder of Invoke Capital, and often referred to as the British Bill Gates, was reported missing on Monday after his luxury yacht, the Baizian, sank near the coast of Sicily during a violent storm.

Superyacht tragedy

One person died and six others went missing, including the British businessman after the yacht sank during a violent story near the coast of Sicily, Italy. Angela Bakaris, Lynch’s wife, was rescued as reported by CNN.

Baizian, the 56-meter luxury yacht, is owned by Revtom Limited, a company registered to Angela Bakaris, Mike Lynch’s wife, according to maritime information service Equasis.

The Marine Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB) sent a team of four inspectors to Palermo, Italy, to investigate the sinking of the Baizian yacht and the causes behind the accident.

The legacy of the British Bill Gates

Mike Lynch is a British-Irish technology businessman and entrepreneur. He is the co-founder of Autonomy Corporation, now known as HP Autonomy, an enterprise software company, and the founder of Invoke Capital, a company that funds, invests in, and advises fast-growing fundamental technology companies in Europe. Lynch’s wealth is estimated at $450 million.

A San Francisco jury recently vindicated Lynch on 15 charges related to the sale of Autonomy Corporation for $11 billion in 2011.
