Middle East steel production up 10.5 percent year-to-date

Middle Eastern crude steel production remained steady at an estimated 1.1 million metric tons (mmt) in November, reported the International Iron and Steel Institute (IISI). Overall, output from the region is up 10.5 percent year-to-date (YTD). 

 

Iran is the largest producer in the region with estimated production of 685,000 metric tons in November, and a total of 7.4 mmt for the year to date. This is 10.7 percent higher than for the same period last year.  

 

World crude steel production for the 63 countries reporting to the IISI stood at an estimated 81.2 million mmt in November. Global production increased by 6.7 percent compared to November 2002 and by 6.9 percent YTD. — (menareport.com)
