Motorola has celebrated the availability of the PEBL handset for the Middle East with the first public appearance of Maria Sharapova ahead of her participation in the Dubai Tennis Open.

The PEBL’s smooth oval form and chic simplicity were brought to the fore as Sharapova highlighted the tactile charm of the new Motorola handset to those in attendance. Inspired by the feel of a stone worn smooth by water, the PEBL elevates handset design to a new level.

Also present at the launch of the PEBL were the ‘MOTOMARIAs’ – a brigade of fans set to be the tennis star’s most avid supporters during the tournament in Dubai this week.

“We are excited to bring the PEBL to the Middle East,” said Hassan Tavakoli, Vice President, Motorola Middle East and Africa. “Its unique combination of power and elegance will instantly appeal to discerning consumers in the region.”

“Motorola has witnessed an unprecedented level of success in the Middle East during the last twelve months.  As one of the most cosmopolitan regions in the world, the Middle East market has been particularly engaged with the extensive range of styles and functions available with Motorola’s handsets,” Tavakoli continued.

Created with an innovative dual-hinge mechanism to open and close the device with one swift, delicate motion, its subtly stylish look and feel are complemented by discreet hi-tech capabilities including speaker-independent voice recognition, up to 5MB of memory, a VGA camera and Bluetooth® wireless technology.
