The Middle East Global Advisers (MEGA) have been busy at work, organizing
the first, 'Middle East IT for Energy Forum,' which will take place at the
Gulf International Convention Centre from May 27-29.
OPEC Secretary General Dr. Rilwanu Lukman will deliver a keynote speech at
the event that is being held under the auspices of Bahrain's Minister of Oil
and Industry, Shaikh Isa bin Ali Khalifa, Bahrain Tribune reported.
Technology pundit Dr. Nicholas Negroponte will also participate in the
forum, which is one of the first in the region to examine the impact of
information technology and e-business on the gas and oil industries.
Pipeline, which services the Gulf Oil and Gas Industries will be the
'energy' partner for the event, with Arabian computer news constituting the
'IT' partner. The state-owned oil company of Saudi Arabia,
Aramco, has expressed its full support of the forum.
Dr. Negroponte, the world's most distinguished speaker on information
technology, will hold a 'Masterclass' on the 28th for an anticipated
capacity crowd, to discuss how digital technology is transforming
organizational culture and corporations at large. Dr. Negroponte's
best-seller, 'Being Digital,' hit the New York Times Best seller quickly
after its release.
"Dr. Negroponte's exceptional presence and vision is captivating audiences
around the globe, making him the icon of the Information Age," remarked
Ehsan Abbas, MEGA Chairman.
He added, "The Masterclass featuring his 'out of the box thinking' will give
participants a stimulating idea of what the business world of tomorrow will
look like. Negroponte presents a fascinating program that promises to take
delegates step by step giving through an in-depth look at the digital
revolution and its impact on industry."
The Middle East IT For Energy Forum is also expected to host a highly
specialized showcase exhibition featuring key international and regional
specialist IT energy companies. Further, the United Nations, in light of the significance of e-commerce, are sending the Secretary General of UNCITRAL, Gerold Herrmann to present a special paper on international e-commerce law.
