The Middle East ranks number four worldwide in pirated software according to a recent report issued by the Business Software Alliance (BSA). The report revealed that the piracy rate is now at 52 percent representing around $281.8 million, a direct loss to the Kingdom’s software developers and producers and importers.
These figures demonstrate a decrease in the piracy rate in the Kingdom from 59 percent in 2001 to 52 percent with losses amounting to $20 million. Countries such as Lebanon, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Oman have registered the highest piracy rate in the region. — (menareport.com)
