ALBAWABA - In a notable foray into the world of wearable technology, Microsoft is set to bolster its presence with a novel AI-powered backpack equipped with a suite of sensors.

The patent application for this innovative backpack recently gained the seal of approval from the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

This intriguing revelation was first unearthed by the keen-eyed observers at the MSPowerUser blog, shedding light on some remarkable features of the backpack. Among its standout attributes is the ability to comprehend and respond to the wearer's voice, akin to virtual assistants like Siri. Additionally, this tech-savvy backpack boasts the unique capability to capture and store audio recordings.

But that's not all; the backpack exhibits prowess in object recognition, offering users navigational assistance, cloud connectivity, and seamless communication with other smart devices in its vicinity.

To provide a clearer picture, the patent application also includes concept drawings portraying scenarios where the backpack aids users with directions or facilitates the purchase of concert tickets.

While we've encountered various smart backpack endeavors in the past, including the AI-infused BaqPaq, which made headlines with an Indiegogo campaign in 2020 (albeit an unsuccessful one), many of the features outlined in Microsoft's patent application align with ideas previously explored by the BaqPaq team. Although the path to realizing this concept proved challenging for BaqPaq, Microsoft, being an investor in OpenAI, holds the potential to materialize this patent into a tangible product.

With this stride, the horizon seems promising for a proliferation of AI-driven wearables in the foreseeable future.
