Microsoft has won an agreement with Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Interior to provide technology solutions to enhance productivity and collaboration across government departments, reorted a press release
The National Information Center (NIC) of the Ministry of Interior awarded the Saudi Government Gateway Project to Zuhair Fayez Partnership (ZFP-IT), one of Microsoft Arabia' partners in the Middle East, Europe, and Africa.
The project was motivated by the Ministry of Interior's drive to invest in enhancing its efficiency in order to provide well-integrated and efficient services to businesses and citizens. A significant investment has been made to create a strong technology backbone to support all the ministry's business processes.
Microsoft .NET technologies will enable all NIC services to the public and organizations electronically. Microsoft.NET platform is a set of Microsoft software technologies that seamlessly connects information, people, systems and devices.
This massive project will enable many NIC applications and services over the Internet. It will also enable the automation of business processes including electronic data exchange (EDE), electronic payment, and static/dynamic content. As part of the business process automation, applications for payment processing of work visa, driver/motor vehicle violation, driver license/motor vehicle, residence licenses and passports and many other services, shall be designed, developed and then deployed.
The project will be entirely designed and implemented by a Saudi company, Zuhair Fayez Partnership (ZFP-IT) which is one of the top information technology (IT) development companies in Saudi Arabia, the Middle East, Europe and Africa.
Regionally and internationally, Microsoft has partnered with the governments of Jordan, Egypt, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, UAE, the United States, Canada, Australia, UK, France, New Zealand, Belgium, India, amongst others to deliver various forms of eGovernment services.
