Microsoft Middle East has launched a two-month campaign targeting the region’s emerging medium-sized business (EMB) sector. The company is investing over one million Emirati dirhams ($272,000) in the program, which will continue until October 30.

Microsoft currently has over 15,000 customers in the EMB segment and makes up to approximately 50 percent of Microsoft's business in the Middle East. Microsoft currently has over 4,000 EMB customers in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) alone.

“There are more than one million EMBs in the Middle East region and these businesses, therefore, play a key role in driving the region's economic growth. Helping these businesses leverage the power of technology in enhancing their business model will be a major Microsoft focus area this year,” said Ashok Sharma, Microsoft Middle East’s EMB manager.

The computing needs Microsoft Middle East of this high growth market are addressed by Microsoft's SBS2000, a network solution designed to help businesses that use up to 50 computers. The SBS2000 package includes software for data/printer/FAX sharing, database management, Internet Web site design, Internet sharing and security besides messaging facilities.

The promotion, which began on August 5, is valid in the UAE, Oman, Bahrain and Yemen. “The promotion is aimed at improving customer service” said Sharma. “This funding provides an attractive incentive for computer companies to improve their skills in installing, configuring and supporting the SBS2000 product at customer sites.”
