Yesterday we read that Microsoft will be dumping the classic Paint app from Windows 10 with the upcoming Fall Creators Update. However, thanks to the massive nostalgic outcry, it seems the app will live on.
According to Microsoft, MS Paint is not going anywhere. However, instead of being a default part of Windows 10, it will be moved to the Windows Store, where the app will be free to download. However, it won't be updated further.
“MS Paint is here to stay, it will just have a new home soon,” the company said.

“We’ve seen an incredible outpouring of support and nostalgia around MS Paint,” the company said in a blog post. “If there’s anything we learned, it’s that after 32 years, MS Paint has a lot of fans. It’s been amazing to see so much love for our trusty old app.”
Microsoft is putting 3D image creation and editing into the hands of the masses with Paint 3D which has new features as well as the classic ones from the original Paint.
According to Microsoft, “Paint 3D, the new app for creativity, is available for free with the Windows 10 Creators Update and will continue to get new feature updates. In addition to the new 3D capabilities, many of the MS Paint features people know and love like photo editing, line and curve tools, and 2D creation, are in Paint 3D.”
Microsoft is keen on listening to its users with Windows 10, which explains why Paint is in the Store. Microsoft initially scrapped plans for the app, but the nostalgic cry of many fans brought it back.
