Microsoft recently announced that its Exchange Server is experiencing growth in the global enterprise messaging market segment, and has reached the coveted 100 million license mark, stated a press release.

Saudi Aramco, recently undertook a migration project, to deploy Microsoft Exchange 2000, on account of its scalability, mobile access, lower total cost of ownership and integration with the Microsoft.NET Platform to build XML Web services. Saudi Aramco used Microsoft Exchange server to consolidate 23 sites that supported 45,000 users down to a mere seven sites. The migration project took only 33 days, resulting in an elimination of 29 servers.

Saudi Aramco joins several other large enterprise customers such as the US Congress, Cardinal Health Inc., Kinko’s Inc., Cisco Systems Inc., South Trust Corp., UnumProvident Corp. and Marathon Ashland Petroleum, who have recently moved to Microsoft Exchange 2000 platform.

Microsoft Exchange Server’s growth within the enterprise segment is confirmed in the Messaging Market Report 2001-2005, prepared by independent agency, The Radicati Group Inc.

According to the report, Exchange Server continues to be the leading enterprise messaging platform among Global 1000 companies, while enjoying the highest growth rate in the industry, this past year. The study further states that Microsoft Exchange Server leads the market in terms of seats sold and deployed, with a 43 percent install base. — (menareport.com)
