ALBAWABA – Microsoft, the American multinational corporation and technology company, says CrowdStrike is the reason behind the global IT outage that caused damage to almost 8.5 million devices all around the world. The company is currently working with Amazon and Google to solve current issues and develop effective tools and methods to avoid future similar incidents.
Global IT outage caused by CrowdStrike
Microsoft reported on Saturday a global technical IT outage caused by CrowdStrike, an American cybersecurity technology company. The technical outage affected nearly 8.5 million devices operating under the Windows system.
The IT outage was caused when CrowdStrike distributed a corrupted software update to its users and customers.

Microsoft reported in a blog post: “CrowdStrike newest update affected almost 8.5 million devices running Windows system.”
As reported by Reuters, Microsoft stated that CrowdStrike is currently working on developing applicable solution that will help Microsoft repair the damages. The company is also working closely with Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud Platform.
Airports, banks, and media went offline
The technical IT outage caused by CrowdStrike affected many companies and corporations on a very large global scale. Several oil and gas trading companies in London and Singapore faced difficulties in carrying out transactions due to the Internet disruption, while Sky News, the British channel went off air.
It is worth mentioning that the global IT outage affected the aviation sector vastly, as Spanish, and Turkish airline companies announced many changes in their flights due to the glitch. About 20% of flights in the US got cancelled as well and Berlin Airport also suspended many flights. This global IT outage also affected the railway systems in Belgium and many other airports in the Middle East region.
