The governor of the Bank of Lebanon, Riyadh Salameh, stated that the 1,200 Middle East Airlines (MEA) employees who had recently lost their jobs in layoffs, would not be paid their due compensation in one payment.
Rather, the bank is currently conducting negotiations with international monetary associations to enable the payment of these dues through 12 monthly installments, reported Al-Hayat.
As part of MEA’s privatization plan, compensations for the fired employees are expected to reach a total of $100 million. Another 250 employees were given early retirement packages. ― (MENA Report)
