The representative of Marriott Hotels in Switzerland, Jonathan Humphries has recently visited in Algeria to "explore the tourism sector and the procedure to follow for these hotels to gain a foothold" in the Algerian market, the Ministry of Tourism told APS on Monday.

Humphries, who was welcomed by Algeria's Tourism Minister, Mohamed Seghir Kara, expressed interest in the measures planned by the ministry to put in place the "appropriate environment for investment," especially those related to training in hotel trade and tourism, according to the Algerian minister.

Kara drew up a list of the various training institutes specialising in this field, in a addition to the various cooperation conventions concluded with the World Tourism Organization (WTO) and the European Union.

The construction of a 5 star Marriott Hotel in Club des Pins, Algiers, nearby the Sheraton Hotel, in partnership with the Hotel Investment Company (SIH) was also discussed by both sides. (menareport.com)
