ALBAWABA – After the latest DeepSeek release and Buzz, China is hitting back with the new artificial intelligence (AI) agent, Manus. The company claims it will surpass the Operator AI agent developed by OpenAI.

Manus AI agent

Monica, the Chinese AI company, has announced the release of a completely new artificial intelligence (AI) agent named Manus on March 6, 2025.

According to their official website: “Manus is a general artificial intelligence (AI) agent that bridges minds and actions: it doesn't just think, it delivers results. Manus excels at various tasks in work and life, getting everything done while you rest.”

Currently in its early stages, the new AI agent Manus offers advanced capabilities, including travel planning, financial analysis, job application screening and creation, and much more.

This advanced AI agent is capable of processing large amounts of data, comparing it with other data options, and providing a neatly optimized outcome—all with minimal human input.

On the GAIA benchmark (an AI benchmark designed to test agents), Manus achieved state-of-the-art performance and beats OpenAI's recently launched Deep Research. (Rowan Cheung X)

Although still in testing, Manus operates through text commands, where users input instructions that the AI then translates into completed tasks.

The company stated that its new digital assistant is in strong competition with OpenAI’s Operator, the first AI agent designed to autonomously perform tasks on the web.

Early-stage issues faced by Manus users

Upon launching the new AI digital agent, many users reported facing multiple issues, including looping errors, security concerns, and glitches.

Some users noted that Manus got stuck in repetitive looping cycles, while others suggested that the structure and architecture of the AI agent seem to integrate with other well-known models, rather than following a unique path.

Additionally, many users questioned the security measures built into the model. Manus still needs further testing to prove its capabilities and the claimed services it can provide.
