Construction work on the first stage of the Manama suq development project is set to begin within a month, the GDN has reported. Three contractors have submitted bids, with value ranging from BD3 million to BD4m, to the Tender Board. The first phase of the project will include demolition of some of the existing buildings and the creation of a public square.
The second phase will include the construction of shopping complex.
The main aim of the project is to "re-brand" the Manama suq into a self sufficient urban center
