Bahrain is to host this year’s first regional sales and marketing meeting of internationally acclaimed hotel chain Radisson SAS Hotels and Resorts. “Manama’s selection to host the meeting is symbolic and reflects the fact that it was the only regional market to record year-on-year growth in both occupancy and average room rate last October, following post September 11 gloom,” said Radisson SAS Hotels and Resorts Regional Director, Thorsten Kirschke.

“Amidst a climate of uncertainty in the global travel industry, continuous investment in infrastructure is needed and confidence-boosting initiatives, such as Bahrain’s recent announcement of a $200 million development plan, to ensure the island’s inbound tourism sector will remain buoyant,” said Kirschke.

Twelve Radisson SAS Hotels and Resorts directors from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Jordan, Kuwait, Oman, Turkey and Egypt will attend the meeting, during which the chain’s regional key objectives will be outlined.

Other Radisson SAS Hotels and Resorts in the Middle and Near East are in Amman, Aqaba, Baku, Istanbul, Kuwait, Muscat and Sharm El Sheikh. Three more properties in Hurghada, Taba and Al Quesir in Egypt are due on-line soon. The chain currently includes 110 hotels in operation and 37 hotels under development in 38 countries and is the sole franchiser in Europe, the Middle East and North Africa for Radisson Hotels & Resorts. — (menareport.com)
