Malta signed an agreement to prevent double taxation with the United Arab Emirates (UAE), as well as to establish a consulate in Dubai. These measures will come as part of Malta’s efforts to consolidate its economic relations with the region after it established a Trade Center in Dubai last April.
This statement came after the seminar on business with Malta, which was hosted by the Dubai Chamber. The Maltese Ambassador participated in this seminar, which was also attended by a number of officials, as well as businessmen from the Emirates, and a Maltese delegation on a visit to the Emirates to establish commercial relations.
The Director General of the Dubai Chamber Abdul Rahman Ghanim Al-Mutaiwee welcomed consolidating business relations with Malta in the commercial and investment sectors, and invited the Maltese businessmen to consider Dubai as a distribution center for their products to the Arabian Gulf Region.
Al-Mutaiwee mentioned that trade with Malta has witnessed an evident growth, as it rose from $10 million in 1997 to $22 million in 2001, which points to the available possibilities for promoting co-operation between the two countries. — (menareport.com)
