Two of the world's leading commercial lighting companies, Netherlands-headquartered Philips and Germany's Osram, have lent their support to the Lighting Arena at Middle East Electricity 2004, the region's power and electricity industry trade show and conference, to be held in Dubai next February.
Show organizer, IIR Exhibitions, said the forum will be 50 percent larger than previously. The arena, which is heading for a sell out with 70 percent of exhibitor space already booked, will include a German national pavilion. An Italian pavilion is also on the cards.
"Almost a third of all participants this year showcased lighting products and 35 percent of visitors networked with lighting suppliers. In addition, almost half of all visitors to the show said they were very interested in the vertical lighting show—clear indications of the demand for an expanded and dedicated arena," said Sarah Woodbridge, Exhibitions Director, Power and Energy Division, IIR Exhibitions.
"It has been estimated the Middle East will require more than one trillion dollars in investment over the next 20 years, mainly in the utility sector. With so much being spent on infrastructure projects the business opportunities for commercial and industrial lighting companies are huge.”
"The arena will provide a sector specific forum for the latest technology and brands, many of which will be making their regional debut at the show." The Lighting Arena will focus on the full spectrum of commercial and industrial lighting. It will spotlight the latest products, including energy efficient and specialty lamps and ancillary equipment. It will also highlight new commercial opportunities in the region.
The Lighting Arena will be one of three vertical forums at Middle East Electricity 2004, to be held from February 15-18 at the Dubai International Exhibition Center (DIEC). The others will focus on power generation and new and renewable energy. — (menareport.com)
