A rise was also recorded in construction permits, cement deliveries and the construction cost index compared with figures from the same period last year, according to official statistics cited by Audi Bank.
Local company Societe des Ciments Libanais secured the highest market share of 45.6 percent, closely followed by Cimentrie National with a 34.2 percent and Sibline with 19.1 percent. The remaining 1.1 percent of the total cement deliveries were imports.
Lebanon’s construction sector improved in 2001, reversing the downward trend witnessed in 2000. Cement deliveries increased by 3.2 percent over the course of the year, up from 2.63 million tons to 2.72 million tons. — (menareport.com)
