ALBAWABA - Reports suggest that Microsoft is actively developing a web-centric variant of Windows 12, with a particular target audience being the education sector. The aim is to provide a competitive alternative to Chrome OS in specific markets.

This specialized version of Windows 12 is intended to offer a more modern, modular, and lightweight experience without completely overhauling the traditional Win32 desktop environment. It's designed to cater to the needs of low-performance educational devices.

Microsoft has established a new team called "Windows and Web Experience" to drive the development of the next generation of Windows and web-based products. Job postings indicate that Microsoft is committed to enhancing Windows experiences and applications for both client and cloud platforms.

According to insiders, this web-focused Windows 12 version is anticipated to heavily leverage Microsoft Edge and artificial intelligence technologies. Microsoft is exploring ways to enhance the intelligence of the Edge browser and gain better insights into user interactions with web content. These efforts are expected to play a pivotal role in shaping Windows 12.

In recent times, Microsoft has undertaken initiatives to modernize Windows and segment its components. While Windows 10X was intended to rival Chrome OS, it remained in the experimental stage and was eventually scrapped without being released.

With the introduction of Windows 11 in 2021, speculations arise regarding the potential arrival of Windows 12 around 2024. This speculation gained traction when, in March 2023, Bowden hinted at the release of the "next major version of the Windows client" in 2024. The existence of an internal codename, "Hudson Valley," further supports these assumptions.
