The Petrochemical Industries Company (PIC), a subsidiary of the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation, recently announced that as a result of the Al Dana program, a comprehensive business process reengineering initiative, PIC will embark on a massive implementation of the Oracle E-Business Suite, which will enable it to increase the efficiency of its liquid ammonia production, urea, and polypropylene plants.
Under the terms of PIC's new alliance with Oracle Middle East, the petrochemical giant is migrating all of its financial, human resources, contract management, manufacturing, procurement, order fulfillment, sales, and service functions to an internet-based model that enables greater information sharing, improved decision-making, and hence increased profitability.
The key improvement inherent to PIC's new system will be the company's ability to connect all of its business processes across its different petrochemical plants, and centralize its data for faster and more informed decision-making. PIC will now have a fully integrated and automated set of business processes for both back-office and front-office operations, making the entire organization more cost-effective, efficient, and collaborative. PIC will also reduce its IT expenses by eliminating the need for interfacing and integration across different technology platforms.
PIC's Oracle implementation is anticipated to be completed during 2004, and will include software, business consultancy, training and support. The range of Oracle E-Business Suite applications running at PIC will be supported by Oracle's technology platform, including the Oracle9i Database, Oracle 9i Application Server and Oracle9i Developer Suite for both application development and business intelligence. — (menareport.com)
