Kuwait's MTC Vodafone Company has qualified for the final stage of the second mobile license tender in Oman, reported Al-Qabas.
Oman shortlisted 10 bidders including European, African and Middle East firms for its second mobile phone license, which will end a monopoly by state-run Omantel. The Sultanate's Telecommunications Regulatory Authority said the winner would be announced on May 3.
The other nine bidders are the UK's Cable & Wireless with Bahrain Telecommunications, Denmark's TDC Mobile International with Qatar Telecom, South Africa's MTN, UK-based Vodafone, Telekom Malaysia, France's Orange, Austria's Mobilkom, Turkey's Turkcell and Luxembourg-registered Investcom Holding. — (menareport.com)
