Microsoft Gulf recently announced that it has signed a major technology agreement with the Kuwait-based engineering consultancy, Salem Al-Marzouk & Sabah Abi-Hanna (SSH). As part of the agreement, SSH will implement Microsoft’s new Open License Program (MOLP) 6.0 across its server and desktop environments, stated a company press release.
The accord includes licenses for Microsoft Windows XP as the operating system and the Office 2000 productivity suite across all desktops. For its server requirements, SSH has acquired Open Licenses (OL) and Client Access Licenses (CAL) for Microsoft Windows 2000 and Microsoft Internet Security Acceleration Server.
The firm has also opted for the Microsoft Software Assurance package to support the deployment in a move that reflects growing commitment to support intellectual property rights among local businesses in the region.
Established in 1961, the Safat-based SSH is a consultancy practice providing services to public and private sector clients in architecture, engineering, planning and management. Its services include pre-construction feasibility appraisals.
Microsoft opened its Dubai-based Middle East headquarters office in 1991, which now oversees operations in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) as well as Yemen and Pakistan, while Microsoft Egypt oversees operations in the East Mediterranean region. In the last 10 years, Microsoft has opened local offices in Lebanon, Jordan, Kuwait, Pakistan and Oman.
Microsoft has been active in the Kuwait market for the past ten years and opened a regional office in the country in 1999. The Kuwait office of is also responsible for the company’s operations in Bahrain and Qatar, and reports into the Microsoft Dubai office. — (menareport.com)
