The Kuwait state reiterated yesterday its desire to see oil prices staying at a level acceptable to both producers and exporters but refused to say if it would support a fresh OPEC output cut, local press reported .

Responding to a query on whether the Kuwaiti government has discussed possible plans by OPEC to further cut production during its March meeting, Sheikh Sabah said it is premature to comment on this issue and that the matter will be examined during the OPEC conference, according to local press.

Responding to a question on prices, Sheikh Sabah, who is chairman of the Supreme Petroleum Council, expressed hope that prices would remain at satisfactory levels for consumers.

"I don’t want to influence others in this regard, but wish that gasoline or oil prices remain in the interest of consumers," Sheikh Sabah went on.
