In an effort to strengthen Arab economies in the face of international economic blocs, the former should unite, said Kuwait's finance minister Bader Al Humaidhi on Wednesday.

Al Humaidi made the comments following meetings of the Arab League economic and social council, in which participants discussed how to unify the Arab world before the upcoming April meeting with Latin American countries, according to KUNA.

The meetings, said Humaidi, aim at narrowing the gaps between the Arab countries and forwarding economic, financial and investment unity.

"The meetings might not be up to our aspirations but they are not far from our ambitions, especially in inter-trade, custom tariffs ... and unifying Arab positions before other economic blocs," he said.

Humaidi added that the April meeting was "a good opportunity to unify the positions."
