Iran’s Khuzestan Petrochemical Company’s engineering polymers project located at the Bandar Imam Special Economic-Petrochemical Zone will become operational in the near future, reported Tehran Times.
Construction of the plant began in 1998, covering 10 hectares of land. The test production of liquid and solid epoxy resin recently came on stream. The plant is expected to produce 35,000 tons petrochemicals annually.
Investment in the project has topped 1.58 billion Iranian rials ($188,882) and its products will be worth over IR 648 billion per annum. The feed for the project will consist of 2.5 million cubic meters of natural gas, 29,000 tons of 50-percent caustic soda, 1,500 tons of chloric acid and 9,500 tons chlorine. The company will also import 8,000 tons of acetone, 27,000 tons of phenol and 15,000 tons of chlorohydrins annually.
Output will be consumed by many industries including electronics, computer assembly, protective coatings, glass production, medical instruments and automobile assembly. — (menareport.com)
