Jordan witnessed the dawn of a new era with the launch of the third phase of its ICT Strategy, REACH. Organized by the Information Technology Association of Jordan (int@j) and key ICT stakeholders in Jordan, this event is the first in a process that aims to define and develop REACH 3.0.
Jordanian Minister of Information and Communications Technology, Fawaz Al-Zu'bi outlined the significance of government's responsiveness to the initiative and reiterated its continued drive to ensure that future recommendations will be endorsed. This will be done to better serve the interest of the ICT sector and its priorities within Jordan's development program.
One of the main components of REACH 3.0 will be Jordan's E-Readiness Assessment. This evaluation aims to portray Jordan's readiness to become a major ICT hub. This report will cover issues such as: connectivity, e-leadership, information security, human capital, e-business climate and public-private partnership.
The culmination of REACH 3.0 will be at the Jordan ICT Forum that is due to be held in September 2002. During this event, the REACH 3.0 strategy will be presented to stakeholders and potential partners.
The Jordan ICT Forum is an annual international Information and Communications Technology (ICT) industry event held in Jordan under the patronage of King Abdullah II. It is the platform to showcase Jordan's efforts and achievements to position the country as a major player in the Information revolution.
