Fastlink ended the southern leg of its “UniLink” program, with visits to the universities of Muta’ and Al Hussein Bin Talal. In an attempt to interact with university students, Fastlink toured Jordan this year setting up displays at universities including photographs and prototypes portraying the development of cellular-GSM technology.
Visits at both universities ended with two lectures given by Khaled Nuseibah, Fastlink’s Data Services’ Marketing Officer, to a selected group of students. The lecturer explained the concepts that lie behind short messages services (SMS) and Wireless Internet (WAP). He also made reference to new emerging technologies better known as the second and a half generation, 2.5 G, and the third generation, 3G, of mobile telecommunications.
Throughout the week a significant number of students visited the exhibition, viewing hands-on demos and presentations. The Karak exhibition received the same attention as the Ma’an exhibition. Students made an effort to attend the fair’s activities throughout the week where they participated in demos presented by UniLink project manager.
The UniLink program will continue its tour of Jordanian universities. It has already moved to the northern parts of the country. — (menareport.com)
