Jordan exported 187.4 million Jordanian dinars ($264 million) worth of goods in January and February, a six percent increase compared to last year’s figures from the same period, stated a report issued by the Jordanian Department of Statistics.
The value of re-exported goods reached JD 68.8 million in January and February of this year compared to JD 51 million during the same period last year, a 35 percent increase. Imports declined to JD 459.3 million in the first two months of this year compared to JD 467.7 million in the same period last year, a six percent drop.
The Kingdom’s main trading partners over the last decade were Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), reported the official Petra news agency. Some 74 percent of Jordan’s total exports headed for Arab markets over the past 10 years, with imports from those markets representing 84 percent of the total. — (menareport.com)
