ALBAWABA - Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will be signing an agreement with his Jordanian counterpart, Ayman Safadi, in Moscow today on the mutual waiver of visa requirements.
Lavrov is holding talks with Safadi in Moscow on Wednesday to "further develop the traditionally friendly Russian-Jordanian relations," according to the Russian Foreign Ministry, which confirmed that the meeting "pays special attention to trade, economic, cultural, and humanitarian cooperation between the two countries."
Under the agreement, Russians can apply for a visa to Jordan for up to one month upon arrival at the airport, for 40 Jordanian dinars (approximately $56).
In contrast, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin approved the draft agreement in May. The agreement stipulates visa exemption for tourist trips for a period not exceeding 30 days, with a total stay not exceeding 90 days per year.
The Russian Foreign Ministry noted that signing the agreement "will contribute to increasing humanitarian and tourism exchanges and expanding our trade relations with Jordan."
