Under the patronage of King Abdullah II, Jordan IP Week 2004 follows last year’s first event that helped introduce IP and will further demonstrate the importance of IP for business and how to implement effective IP management.
“The real value of IP is the way it can be integrated as part of your business strategies-marketing, capital raising, research and development or business development. A clever business uses IP to market itself, its products and services,” said Mr. Tawfiq Tabbaa, JIPA member. Further adding “IP is not the goal; it’s the means to achieve your goals.”
Jordan IP Week 2004 brings together IP professionals with participants through various workshops that will assist in developing IP strategies and highlight the various resources available for incorporating IP into business plans. The IP Week will be able to offer general advice on IP and protection strategies, with practical advice specific to the topics that will be dealt with during the workshops. Expert speakers from different professional bodies, business groups and government will be present to ensure the effectiveness of Jordan IP Week 2004’s mission of providing a fertile productive environment for the participants. Speakers from the International Intellectual Property Institute (IIPI) Washington D.C., Patents and Trademarks Office (USPTO), World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Microsoft, Judges, professors and ministers will tackle how businesses need to develop a more strategic, integrated approach to protect their IP and to better commercially exploit their IP portfolios. As well, as providing case studies and different sources of information and knowledge which other firms and organisations have already generated to be used as constructive examples.
“Businesses are 'wising up' to the real value of their IP portfolios. By developing and incorporating IP strategies into their business plans, they are protecting their competitive advantage for today, and ensuring their company's financial success well into the future!” stated Mr. Amjad Al Amad, Treasurer, JIPA.
