Jordan will this year mount its first group participation at the Dubai Air Show. Being organized by the Amman-headquartered Jordan Airmotive (JALCo), the group has already won support from the Jordan Aeronautical Systems Company (JAC), Jordan Aircraft Maintenance (JORAMCO) and the Royal Jordanian Air Force.

For JALCo, which will make its Dubai air show debut at Dubai 2003, the eighth international aerospace exhibition being held in December this year, the move heralds an expansion aimed at making the company the region's leading commercial aero-engine maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facility.

"Mainly we will be looking for opportunities to attract customers with the type of engines we can overhaul," said JALCo’s General Manager, Qassem Omari. "But we will also be looking to attract shareholders and want to let the world know that Jordan is a serious partner as far as the MRO business is concerned." Despite Jordan taking major economical hits from the aviation downturn caused by regional uncertainties and later SARS, JALCo believes things are now picking up.

At Dubai 2003, which will be held at the Airport Expo Dubai, from December 7-11, JAC will be marketing its aircraft maintenance facility at the country's Marka Air Base. The company is already servicing the C-130s of the Royal Jordanian Airforce as well as a number of commercial aircraft. The Jordanian group will line up alongside other national or industry groups from Italy, the Czech Republic, the UK, USA, France, Germany, Russia and, for the first time, the Ukraine. — (menareport.com)
