The establishment of a joint Arab pharmaceuticals market was recently suggested by the head of the Egyptian Pharmaceuticals and Medical Supplies Manufacturing Chamber, Jalal Ghurab.
The joint market aims to help cope with the impacts of the requirements of the World Trade Organization’s (WTO) and with Intellectual Property Protection Accords
Ghurab estimates annual spending by Arab nations on pharmaceuticals at $4.5 billion, compared with spending on these products in eastern Mediterranean countries, which stands at two billion dollars per annum, according to Addustour daily. ― (MENA Report)
