Eight people were killed and 19 injured when the roof of the ‘K’ power station, currently under construction by the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), collapsed in the United Arab Emirates’ Jebel Ali zone, reported WAM.
DEWA has authorized the establishment of a technical committee to investigate the cause of the roof’s collapse. According to a company source, none of DEWA's power and desalination stations in Jebel Ali have been affected by the accident.
The station is still under construction and has not yet been transferred over to DEWA from the contractor. Thirty officers from the Special Task Force and the Urban Rescue Unit of the Dubai Police and the Civil Defense coordinated a search for survivors. — (menareport.com)
