The Japanese Consul General, Fumihiro Yagawa, expressed appreciation for the orders given by the Dubai Crown Prince and United Arab Emirates (UAE) Minister of Defense, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum to find new channels to provide a wider opportunity to build joint investment projects with Japan.
This came when the Consul General for Japan visited the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry, where he was received by Obaid Humaid Al-Tayer, the President of the Dubai Chamber, along with the Director General of the Chamber, Abdul Rahman Ghanim Al-Mutaiwee.
Al-Maktoum had recently met with a number of the large Japanese companies and establishments when they held a meeting in Dubai organized by the Japanese Liaison Office for the Middle East. Around 150 Presidents of Japanese companies and establishments from around the globe took part in this meeting.
During this meeting, the President of the Dubai Chamber talked about the focal economic role Dubai plays in the region. He said that the investments the Dubai government made over the past decades, which have been directed to carry out the infrastructure projects seen in Dubai today, have enabled Dubai to carry out this role. Besides that, Dubai and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have ensured providing a climate which encourages business, and that involves easy laws and procedures, as well as security which have encouraged many international establishments to consider Dubai a regional center for their business activities.
The Japanese Consul General expressed the comfort felt by the Japanese establishments operating in Dubai, and said that there are currently 105 Japanese establishments operating in Dubai, 75 of which operate in the Free Zone on a regional level.
The size of trade exchanged with Japan through Dubai is around 6.3 million Emirati dirhams ($1.7 million) a year. Japan occupies the third place amongst the countries Dubai imports from, as well as those Dubai exports to. At the top Dubai's exports to Japan are aluminium nuggets. — (menareport.com)
