A Japanese Car Manufacturers Association delegation arrived in Saudi Arabia recently for discussions on establishing a 100 million Saudi riyal ($26.6 million) Auto Institute in Jeddah. If implemented, the institute, planned in association with the Saudi Agents and Distributors of the Japanese Cars, will open next September, reported Al-Hayat.
The institute will be run by 15 teachers, 24 technical trainers and 18 administrators and is designed to instruct 600 local trainees in modern technologies.
Saudi Arabia is the largest car market in the Middle East, bringing in over 275,000 vehicles annually, valued at SR 41 billion ($10.9 billion). Saudis annually spend an estimated SR 8.6 billion ($2.2 billion) on spare car parts. — (Mean Report)
