Egypt and Japan inked on Thursday two grant agreements, whereby Egypt will get $43 million to fund projects in the drinking water and irrigation domains. The grants come as part of the Japanese aid program to Egypt. Egypt has received $250 million from Japan as part of this programme, including $ 75 million as non-refundable grants.
The agreements were signed by Egypt's Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Fayza Abul Naga and Japanese ambassador in Cairo Kazoyoshi Urabe.
Abul Naga said the first grant, worth $25 million, will go to financing a water supply project in Sharqiya governorate. The second one, with a value of $18 million, will be directed to rehabilitating Saqoula canals in Fayoum governorate to increase feddan productivity. (menareport.com)
