The Jacky’s Group of Companies has established its new permanent corporate headquarters in Jebel Ali Free Zone, Dubai. Jacky’s, which started in 1970, as a Hong Kong-based mail order business, Tuesday has operations in the Middle East, Africa and the Far East – all of which will be overseen by the main corporate office in Jebel Ali.
While the corporate headquarters in Jebel Ali will be responsible for planning and implementing policies for group operations, internationally, the Jacky’s Airport Road office will focus on the regional market, said Mr. Manohar Panjabi, Executive Director, Jacky’s Gulf FZE. “The Jebel Ali Free Zone is extremely conducive for trade and this location allows Jacky’s to position itself alongside other competitive players in the market,” he said.
Set on a 10,000 sqm area, the Jacky’s Jebel Ali base also accommodates a logistical centre, a facility that is one-and-half times the first Jacky’s warehouse located in the area. The expansion is a modest reflection of Jacky’s growth across its divisions, said Mr. Panjabi.
“Over the past 35 years Jacky’s has grown to become a major retailer, wholesaler, exporter and distributor of some of the world’s top brands. One of the main reasons that we have been able to grow as we have is because of our ability to identify and respond to market needs – regionally and globally,” he said.
The expanded facility, which represents a 152 per cent increase in capacity, includes a temperature regulated storage area to accommodate products that need to be stored at specific temperatures. The other new features include individual pallet picking, improved racking systems that allow for deep and extra push back storage capacity and an enhanced mechanical operation for faster picking, dispatching, receiving and storage of products. Moreover, the three loading and unloading bays, improved warehouse management and overall operation, will enhance logistical efficiency by reducing time and costs.
While Jacky’s was established with the founding of the mail order operations in Hong Kong, it was in Dubai that the company first ventured into retail – the first retail showroom opening in Dubai’s Nasr Square in 1988. Today, Jacky’s Electronics has seven showrooms located in some of the most prestigious, urban locales in the emirates.
Shortly after Jacky’s venture into retail, individual business units were set up to keep pace with the ever-growing market. Presently the Jacky’s Group of Companies has the following divisions: Internet & CRM Services, Digital Printing & Imaging, Office Automation & IT, Mail Order & Project & Relief Supplies, Visitor Management Solutions, Projects & Appliances, and Corporate Sales.
