Executives with the Dubai Airport Free Zone Authority (DAFZA) announced at GITEX 2003 the successful completion of the free zone's third-phase of development, and commencement of a fourth-phase.
The third-phase - which already has a 70 percent occupancy rate, with 100 percent occupancy expected by the first quarter of 2004 - consists of approximately 21,000 square meters of office space and 28 light industrial units. Some 48 additional warehouses are in the process of construction.
“DAFZA is using GITEX 2003, the Middle East's largest IT trade show, as a platform to communicate to the IT industry about the unique investment opportunities that DAFZA has to offer,” said Director of Sales and Marketing for DAFZA, Shahla Abdul Razak.
“The percentage of companies from the computer, IT, and telecommunications sectors in DAFZA increased by 20 percent, in comparison to last year, we expect these sectors to continue to grow.”
Established in 1996, Dubai Airport Free Zone (DAFZA) is wholly owned by the Government of Dubai. DAFZA is the only airport-oriented free zone in Dubai and is located within the boundary of Dubai International Airport.
The purpose of the free zone is to provide foreign investors the facilities and services required to operate their business in Dubai. The companies will enjoy the freedom of 100 percent ownership and tax exemptions, in addition to a package of incentives. — (menareport.com)
