Israeli exports to the Arab countries of the Middle East have dropped 39 percent in the first quarter of 2002, reaching $21.3 million, as compare to the corresponding period the previous year, according to recently released figures by the Israel Export Institute.
Israeli imports from Arab countries declined a slight two percent in the first quarter of 2002, to $16.4 million, compared with the first quarter in 2001. Imports from Jordan increased by eight percent, totaling $10.4 million, while imports from Egypt fell five percent to $4.7 million.
While Israel exported goods to Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Tunisia, Kuwait, Oman and Qatar, there were no imports from these countries to Israel in the first three months of the current year. — (menareport.com)
