ALBAWABA - The Israeli Defense Ministry confirmed signing a deal with American company Boeing to buy dozens of F-15 fighter jets for $5.2 billion, local Israeli media reported on Thursday.

According to Israel's Hayom outlet, Israel will be purchasing 25 of the "next generation" of F-15 jets from Boeing.

Reuters further mentioned that the deal between Israel and Boeing is part of a broader package of US aid approved earlier in 2024 by the American Administration and Congress.

In a post on its official X account, the Defense Ministry in Israel wrote: "Israel MOD Acquires 25 Advanced F-15 Aircraft for $5.2 Billion. The Israel Ministry of Defense (IMOD) signed yesterday (Wednesday) a landmark transaction to acquire the next generation of F-15 fighter jets, purchasing 25 advanced aircraft from Boeing."

It also confirmed that the deal was finalized on Wednesday between the "IMOD’s Mission to the U.S. and Boeing in collaboration with the Israeli Air Force."

The agreement was signed by the DG of the IMOD, Maj. Gen. (Res.) Eyal Zamir during his visit to the United States in October.
