ALBAWABA - From the rubble, a new hope will rise, slowing down the misery of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. Palestinian minister said an island will be constructed from the debris of the 2-year war in the enclave.
Palestinian Minister of Public Works and Housing, Ahed Bseiso, unveiled a plan to build an island off the coast of the Gaza Strip, adding that the project will be overseen by the Palestinian government.
The plan involves recycling 60 million tons of rubble resulting from the Israeli aggression, and placing them on an area of 14 square kilometers in the Mediterranean Sea to create a new island, which will be a tourism and entertainment development zone.
According to the minister, the new island will be a great opportunity to provide additional projects and job opportunities for Gaza residents, and will play a major role in enhancing the economy.
Bseiso told Erem News that there are four ways to finance the strip, with international institutions estimating the cost of Gaza's reconstruction at $67 billion. He further noted that the most important of these methods are international grants from the European Union, the U.S., and Arab and Islamic countries, investments from sovereign funds and major corporations, and private sector investments.
