The Iraqi Ministry of Oil signed contracts with three international oil companies to conduct a study on drilling in the Suba-Luhais oil fields in southern Iraq, sources at the ministry said Sunday. According to <i>KUNA</I>, the sources added the three companies are Vitol, Andarko Petroleum Corp. and Dome Oil of the United Arab Emirates.
These contracts differ from those specialized to the development of the Suba-Luhais oil fields, it added.
Recently the ministry requested the cabinet to raise its production quota from 50,000 barrels per day to 190,000 bpd.
