Iraqi government directs US$100 million to Fallujah

Hajim Alhusni, the Iraqi industry and mineral resources minister, said that the Iraqi government has allocated US$100 million as a first payment to compensate the people of Fallujah.

 

The minister revealed, according to Alsabaah newspaper, that this amount covers only 20 percent of the estimated needs. However, he promised that future compensations will be granted and the government will implement top priority project in the city such as water and electricity projects in addition to rebuilding schools and governmental departments.

 

This announcement came following the minister's visit to Fallujah where he inspected the damages to the infrastructure there. The minister disclosed that special committees were formed to asses the total damages in order to set strategies to compensate all those who were damaged by the destruction.
