Iraqi Oil Minister Amer Rashid has called for an "immediate" cut in OPEC's oil output by one million barrels per day (bpd), to shore up slumping crude prices, the cartel's news agency OPECNA said on Monday October 22.

Rashid had written a letter to OPEC president Chakib Khelil, Algeria's oil minister, saying that such a cut "would act as an interim measure in helping to boost prices," it said. — (AFP, Vienna)
