The Iraqi General Department for Tourism at the Culture Ministry has finalized adjustments for law number 14 from 1996 which deals with classifications and operation of tourist attractions in Iraq.
An authorized source at the department mentioned that the law encompasses many entities such as restaurants, hotels, tourist apartments, amusement parks, clubs, coffee shops and souvenirs shops.
The source added that the new amendments empower the head of the tourism department to reclassify the tourist attractions every two years, to follow their performance and to make sure they offer the best service to tourists.
The source, according to Alkhaleen newspaper, added that the new adjustments have set out certain conditions to grant licenses for the operation of any tourist entity. These include the compliance with health and safety aspects.
