Iraq, via the ministry of health, demanded the World Bank to release funds, which have been frozen in Jordanian banks since the fall of the previous regime.
In this context, Dr. Ramzi Rasoul, the manger for resources administration said with in an interview with Alkhaleej newspaper that the health ministry formed a special committee to follow up this issue.
Dr. Ramzi has revealed that the frozen funds are huge and belong to the Public Company for Marketing Medicines and to the Iraqi Heart Center. He indicated that the ministry has asked the Iraqi Central Bank to assist in collecting these funds in order to cover the needs of the health sector.
