Iran’s oil derivative consumption surpassed government forecasts by 13.8 percent in 2001, reaching an intake level of 192.5 million liters daily. The nation’s Third Five-Year Economic Development Plan predicted that consumption would total 169 million liters a day, reported IRNA.
The consumption of oil derivatives grew four percent in 2001 year-on-year, according to Iran’s Oil Minister in charge of Oil Derivatives' Refining and Distribution Affairs Mohammad Aqaie,
Gasoline consumption, reaching 54 million liters daily, showed the highest growth rate during the year 2001, with a seven percent increase compared to figures from the year before.
