More than 400 striking shoe factory workers blocked a road west of Tehran Sunday, April 8, to demand salaries that have been unpaid for nine months, the offical IRNA news agency reported.

The employees of the Shadan-Pour factory set up a blockade on the road between Tehran and the western suburb of Karaj and halted traffic for two hours, IRNA said.

Behruz Heidar-Khani, a spokesman for the strikers, told IRNA that the factory's owner had not been at his office in nine months and that salaries have not been paid since then.
